It’s the start of the new quarter and the Life Couse Scholars Program is back and better than ever. This was a short class session and we even ended early. We got our syllabus for this quarter and we have a few more projects and site visits. I am looking forward to the site visits and interacting with the seniors. Like last quarter, I would love to make an impact on someone’s life even if it is just a little one.
Then we talked about our HAPs. My group is creating a choir group with dementia patients. During our one-on-ones with the professors, our group’s biggest concern was a location. We were unsure if the dementia care center, Seasons at La Jolla, would want us since we haven’t met with them yet. However, just this Saturday, we got the okay from the CEO of Seasons. We were thrilled and relieved that are project is going to happen. The CEO also seems very understanding of our busy schedule as students and is flexible to when the choir practices will be. We met a few of the patients staying there and I am looking forward to meeting everyone else. There are really amazing people there and the CEO made it sound like they will be very excited for this activity.
I am not sure how the other HAPs are doing it, but the sensual garden HAP met before class. I am usually there 15 minutes before class so I got to be a part of their discussion or at least listen to it. I do want to be a part of this but I am not sure if I can contribute a lot of my time into it. I guess as the HAPs get more finalized, I will be able to be a part of more than one for the ones that I am interested in.
