Application for the 2023 Cohort
Thank you for your interest in becoming a Life Course Scholar.
The Life Course Scholars Program is housed in the Urban Studies and Planning Program at UC San Diego. It provides an interdisciplinary, cross-generational, multi-site learning experience for UC San Diego undergraduates that will transform their understanding of aging, health, learning and research, as well as connect them more deeply to the “people and places” of surrounding San Diego communities. This unique program combines place-based, experiential, and traditional classroom-based learning methods both on and off campus.
Selected students will participate in several activities in Winter Quarter 2023 and will be required to enroll in USP 141A. The course is worth 6 units and must be taken for a letter grade. The class is scheduled to meet from 9:00 a.m. - 11:50 a.m. on Wednesdays.
The program in 2023 will be led by Dr. Leslie R Lewis with continuing contributions from Dr. Mirle Rabinowitz Bussell. Both are faculty members in the Urban Studies and Planning Program.
If you'd like to learn more about the program, take a look at the information and student blog reflections on the Life Course Scholars Program website. Take a look at the work our scholars have completed!
To apply for the program, please fill out an application. Applications for the 2023 cohort are currently closed. If you are looking to join the Winter 2024 cohort, please return in the Fall 2023 for application updates!
