The moment we had all been planning for finally arrived!
The Senior Prom was held at the Gary and Mary West Center. Before we opened the doors, our class and volunteers began to set the decorations. The fairytale theme really came to life with leaves draped over the walls, white tulle on the entrance, and bright string lights. Food was organized neatly on each plate, ready to be served to each individual at their seat.
As I greeted seniors in, the majority of them smiled, thanked us, or even gave a compliment about our set up. Seniors were given a raffle ticket as they while entering the room. After serving meals (with delicious blueberry cheesecake), we were all able to get dinner and a show. UCSD’s Salsa Club instructors attended our event to give a Salsa demonstration. We all got a chance to get in partners and learn basic salsa and bachata moves. The raffle was a success. Many of them got to enjoy a variety of prizes, such as blankets and gift cards. A couple of students and I walked around the room to pass out seconds of fruit, cheesecake, or cupcakes. Overall, the experience was enjoyable and entertaining. Time flew by so quickly because of our full agenda.
