I cannot believe this is the final week of blog posts. It has been a very exciting and wonderful experience to learn more about the aging community and work along-side so many great people. There was always something new to learn every week. I really enjoyed hearing the perspective of my other classmates on different subjects discussed in class. Everyone brought their own unique and interesting ideas to the group. I feel so grateful to be given this opportunity that has truly changed my perspective on the aging population and society as a whole.
We also had the healthy aging symposium this week and my group presented our HAP there. It was a bit of a hassle gathering all the oral histories and then we also ran into a bit of a set back with the printing of the posters, but in the end, everything worked out and the feedback we received was great!! A few individuals came up to me and expressed just how amazing the posters were, they said it was so incredible to read about everything other individuals go through. It would have been extra nice if we were able to get them into an actual art gallery and place even more oral histories up! The interactive polaroid questions were also a nice touch, even though I had to keep asking people if they wanted a picture because most of them would just go up to the board and dismiss it. When I began asking them if they wanted to answer our questions and take a photo, that is where we started getting more engagement on the board. In all, I thought that the project turned out great and all of the EPs looked so beautiful up on their poster boards.
I just want to give a huge than you to Professor Lewis and Professor Bussell for all of their help and support throughout both quarters. This last quarter was a rough one for me, but both of the professors worked with my schedule and allowed me to still be a part of the program. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us and for encouraging us in every project that we created.
Goodluck to everyone on their future endeavors and a huge welcome and Goodluck to the new cohort!!
