For class this week, we spent time presenting our Healthy Aging projects. For this assignment, I teamed up with Katie, Maricris, Tiffany, Cindy, and Sophia to create a video together. The video is titled "So Tell Me..." which focuses on older adults in our lives sharing advice that they would give to their younger selves and a younger generation. I liked this idea that Katie came up with because I feel like older adults have a lot of wisdom to offer us based on their experiences. Originally, we wanted to go out to different senior centers in San Diego and interview the seniors that are interested there personally. We planned on ordering video equipment and were thinking of what the background should be since we wanted to base the style of the video off of YouTube channels like Cut and Jubilee's. However, we never have gotten around to going to different senior centers because of COVID-19, so we ended up deciding to interview older adults that we already know. We also didn't end up buying any video equipment, so we used our funds to give a gift card to each participant that was $25 each I think. A challenge that my group faced was trying to find older adults that would be interested in being a part of our project because many people that we asked were camera shy. It took some time, but we eventually got people to participate. My group wasn't the only one who had challenges because I know the others had some difficulties as well. Nevertheless, I think we all did an excellent job with our HAPs despite the circumstances, and it was great to see what the others had accomplished.
