This week during class we worked on brainstorming ideas as a class for the Intergenerational Senior Prom at the Gary and Mary West Senior Wellness Center and for our own individual or group healthy aging projects. We started the class off by discussing possible themes for the Senior Prom and listing out what ideas we had for decorations, activities, and such that we can do for each theme. I recall some of the possible themes were retro, disco, the roaring 20's, tropical/Hawaiian I think, superheroes, and fairytale. Then we voted on our top choices and in the end, fairy tale was decided to be this year's theme. Everyone was super excited and had high hopes for the fairytale theme. Afterwards, we split up into three different groups to each work on a different component of the prom. I decided to join the decorations team because I thought it would be fun to think of how to decorate the place.
For the second half of the class, we talked about ideas for individual/group HAPs. Different classmates suggested different ideas that they wanted to do for their HAPs and they all sounded pretty cool. One that stood out to me was about having a cooking competition which sounded like it would be a lot of fun to host. Overall, I think it would be fun to do stuff that are DIY which can also be therapeutic or do something interactive and entertaining. I'm excited to see what everyone ends up doing for their HAPs.
