These past two weeks have been very long. From all the waking up early in the mornings after late night meetings and studying. And do not get me started with the Zoom meetings! Every day, almost every hour having to look at a computer screen is making my constant headaches hurt worse than usual. For a while know, I have been trying to look at the brighter side of everything that happened to me in the day and dwell on the negativity of the event, a little trick I have been reading about from the older folxs interviewed in his book Happiness is a Choice. The technique has helped me feel more relaxed and less tense.
This past week we had a really big project due, our Debunking Ageist Stereotype Project. For my project, I focused on the stereotype of: “older folxs tend to be more conservative” through the lens of the “ok, boomer” meme. To present my project, I made a video. Although, I had all of my research completed and outlined for my video it took me about three days to finish the video. I worked meticulous to find the appropriate music, transitions, font, and format to fit the mood. I think my attention for perfection may have made me go two extra days than I needed to but was glad to finish the project and present it in class. I think the one thing I would have changed is the amount of data I presented. I feel like my presentation of data was underwhelming compared to others.
In the next two weeks, we have our class HAP and group HAP coming up so hopefully they go well…fingers crossed.
