Much has happened this quarter and it has involved a whirlwind of newfound knowledge, consistent planning, and deep reflections. Sadly our last meeting did not entirely go as planned with the potluck due to the precautions that had to be taken in the face of covid-19. The last oral history report was shared, which once again was heartwarming and deeply personal. We were able to get into our HAP groups shortly after to discuss how to work around covid-19, and still have the heart and objectives of our project pull through.
There was quite a bit of rearranging that had to be done for the HAP project I am involved in and sadly we will not be able to be as interactive, in terms of physically meeting, with our partnered seniors as we had originally planned. While some minor details are still being tweaked amidst the expected absence of some of our members, who will be at home during spring quarter, our group is still actively working to do our best to make sure our project has just as much of an impact with these revisions and updates.
For our last class of this quarter, we ended with a short session discussing how this class has been treating us thus far. I am thoroughly thankful and deeply invested in the goals and journey LCS has been taking me on. I have found a deeper appreciation for the elderly and the unlearning that must be done in the face of ageist stereotypes. But this class has been an entire delight and I have enjoyed every second of it.
While I do not know how much our class will change next quarter due to the pandemic, but I am hopeful that I will be able to learn just as much while working to make a difference through my actions. Can’t wait to see what the next couple of months will entail!
