Our HAP is less than one month away, and my group and I have been busy solidifying a route for the walking course, finalizing the T-Shirt designs, reaching out to possible groups who would like to participate in the event, and advertising in general. We have a big group working on this project, and we are definitely on top of it in regards to making sure everything is smooth sailing before the week of the event. It was nice to debrief today about the West Center intergenrational conversations we had last week, because so many people ended up having long and rewarding conversations with elders. Today in class, we did a book report on the second half of the book "Happiness is a Choice You Make". This half of the book touched upon structural issues that individual elders personally faced, and how they changed their mindsets to stay happy and increase their self-efficacy. Hearing personal stories is definitely more touching than a general overview of problems faced by the elder population. I am excited for the rest of the quarter and to see how all of the other groups' HAP activities turn out. We've been a cohort for over five months now, and I truly appreciate all of the people I get to work with. It is nice to make friends who are very like minded and have a passion for helping those most in need.
