On Saturday, we went to Casa De Mañana, a senior retirement community, in La Jolla. The location of the retirement community is simply perfect. The ocean was just a minute away. We got a complete tour of Casa De Mañana. It was bigger than I expected. They had different kinds of facilities such as a library, a well- equipped gym, movie theater, swimming pool, spa etc. During our tour, we came across a group of seniors who were doing group physical therapy. Several others were in the movie theater, which looked very nice and cozy. They have several living options, ranging from oceanfront villas to two-bedroom apartments and traditional studios. They also provide assisted living and personal care and services for those who need them. Kelly, one of the staff members, organizes different programs and classes for the residents such as visits to museums, sightseeing tours, art classes etc. It was nice to see her enthusiasm for her job. One could tell that the seniors also love her. Towards the end of our time there, we got the chance to interact with three seniors in one of the community rooms. We asked them about their experience in Casa de Mañana. All of them love it there and it was really interesting to know about their lives. One of them had gone skydiving for her 90th birthday. Another senior woman talked about her love for traveling. She had traveled all over the globe, from South Korea, one of her favorite places to visit, to Kenya and Ethiopia. They were all very positive and happy and I enjoyed hearing their life stories.
