This week, our class began brainstorming on the theme for the Senior Prom. There were various themes that we discussed that we thought everyone would enjoy: 20’s, 50’s/60’s, 80’s, Fairytale, Superhero, Hawaiian. The majority vote was for fairytale! I really enjoyed looking at the photos from the previous year’s prom. I can conclude that people had a lot of fun engaging in different activities, trying on clothes/items for the photoshoot, and crowning Prom King & Queen. This class made me really excited for the quarter.
As part of the activities/entertainment committee, we tried to incorporate the fairytale theme in our photo booth. We hope to have many props such as fairy wings, princess/prince crowns, knight shields, etc. We also want to include activities that both males and females would enjoy. When I asked that is the ratio of men and women, I learned that there might be more men participating in the event, an estimated 40/60 ratio.
Planning for the prom will be very exciting. I believe that our group will be able to gather our materials within the budget. For music, we will be including some ballroom/waltz to go with the theme, but also different genres throughout the years that anyone can enjoy.
At the end of the lecture, students brought up several ideas for their HAP project. I hope to join one of their groups; many of them had projects that I would be interested in participating in. I am still brainstorming on a HAP project but hope to get an idea by next week.
