If I could live in any retirement community, Casa De Mañana would probably be the place. Located right by the ocean, residents can enjoy the view from their dining room, library, or the sunroof. The main building is a historic landmark because of its Spanish architecture. They provide many services, like an “all-inclusive resort”. Classes are offered to encourage personal wellness. They have an activity sheet filled with many opportunities for seniors to explore. This was one of the more expensive senior living arrangements we’ve seen so far.
For the second half of the tour, we got an opportunity to introduce ourselves as a group to a panel of residents. It was refreshing to listen to other people talk about the reason they applied to the program and how we will continue to use our knowledge we’ve gained in our future careers. I got the opportunity to meet a woman named Phyllis, who shared a little bit about herself and her experience living here. She graduated high school at 17 and went straight to nursing school. At 20, she married her high school sweetheart and raised two children with him. Her daughter lives close often visits. At the center, her favorite activity is water aerobics and highly recommends the class. She is very social and enjoys her time at Casa De Mañana.
