During our last session on Thursday, my memoir partner expressed that she wanted to have bible study sessions with me since I had talked about my recent relationship with becoming a Christian, which I am still exploring for myself. She also expressed interest in working with me to create her memoir, which I gladly offered to help with since I felt that these meetings were fun and rewarding. During that session, we decided to meet twice a week for a bible study session and a memoir session. I was so glad to see my memoir partner get excited about writing her memoir with me. She said that she had been putting off the project for a while now. Throughout our memoir meetings, she learned some helpful strategies to approach writing her memoir, like recording herself and organizing her thoughts and ideas. Additionally, I think we make a good team when it comes to writing these memories out together. With the help of my writing skills and vocabulary, along with her formal ways of expressing herself, I think that we can create a well-written set of memoirs.
During class this last week, Danny, Katlyn, and I presented together for the current events presentation, and we decided to talk about an article about accessory dwelling units, also known as granny flats. I was surprised to hear that Professor Bussell had read that same article that we chose to talk about. After that, we had the chance to talk to some seniors from Casa de Mañana, which was a really enriching, dynamic, and enjoyable experience. I had the chance to learn a little about their lives and gain some life advice. I remember one of the seniors, who I don’t really remember the name of, saying that when you approach the senior age, you should plan how and where you want to live after retirement because you never know if others will be making that choice for you instead. This week has been rough, but there is still always something about these rough times to take away.
