This week we presented our NAPs. It was so interesting to see the disparities across the different cities across San Diego. A lot of the cities have changed over the years due to government interference. One major trend that I noticed is that the underserved population and the elderly always get overlooked. Many of the cities presented didn’t have proper transportation within its city limits or if they did, it didn’t accommodate to the aging population or individuals with a disability. It is so expensive to afford housing now a days and on top of that people have to worry about transportation and how to maneuver oneself around their own neighborhoods.
The west prom was also this week. It was so lovely watching everyone get so excited and entertained by the event we put on. We had a photobooth station, dessert table with fondue, drinks, churros and pizza. Everyone was having such a good time. I saw a couple of ladies get very excited and animated when taking pictures at the booth. We did a raffle here as well! Everyone received a goodie-bag on their way out just so we could make sure that everyone was included and received something. The blankets that we had for the raffle were so soft and with gorgeous colors! I wanted to keep on myself. It was also a great to be able to share this experience with my daughter and bring her along to help out. She helped me place all of the table cloths, hand out pizza and arrange some of the goodie-bags that were left over.
In all, it was a great event and it is such an amazing opportunity that we get to help out in any way. However, I do wish we could have had a longer event. The time was cut very short.
