This week we finished the Oral History presentations. Emotions were very high in class today. Everyone has their own unique story and that connection we have with our family is undeniable – it was very apparent in class today. I enjoyed everyone’s presentations, they all depicted the resilience, hard-work and determination of the EPs. I had such a great experience making my project and I loved that I got to spend extra intimate time with my EP. This project gave me an idea to make my grandmother a film or her life, sort of speak. I want to keep the memory of my grandmother alive for the generations to come. I never had the chance to meet my great grandmother and I wish there were videos or even pictures of her, but we only have one picture. I want to make sure that my daughter and future children know exactly who their great grandmother was.
I never really thought about how blessed I am to have pictures and videos of my grandmother and all of us together until she told me that her parents never took pictures of them and that she lost all the pictures of her children when they were little. I find pictures and videos to be such gems in our lives, they give us joy and allow us to reminisce on some great memories. I want to be able to give that treasure to my family.
