Before I get into my main takeaway of this quarter, I wanted to let you know that this week has been so exciting!! Thursday was honestly one of the greatest days of my life, because I was able to share my SRP findings during the SANDAG meeting, wear my new blazer, GO TO THE URBAN EXPO!!!, and watch Minari! I’ve always said I love being a USP major, and here I am again letting you all know that I love being a USP major. haha
When I think about aging, I no longer think about a concept with bullet points. I now think of individuals that I’ve gotten to know/learn about because of this class. I think about my EP, my father. Because of the Memoir assignment, I had my first deep conversation with him, getting to know about his childhood, teenage years, and adulthood before I was born. It was interesting seeing how his past shaped him into who he is today as he has never discussed his past with me before this project. I also think about everyone else’s EPs who have shared with us so much wisdom like the importance of intentionality, living life to the fullest, and that life will always bring us back to our passions and interests. I think about our Valentine’s Day friends who email us weekly. While we all haven’t met in person, it’s been really nice getting to read and respond in our conversations. Their emails have honestly been some of the highlights of my Winter Quarter.
In the Spring, my group and I will be conducting interviews with older people to hear about their life stories, and I look forward to having new and more people coming to my mind when I think about aging and growing up
