On Wednesday May 22nd, we returned to the classroom to check-in with our Healthy Aging Project posters and present our Debunking Age-ism project. Before doing this, we debriefed the LGBT Center luncheon and with the gardening group about their project. I really enjoyed hearing how successful the gardening HAP went, and seeing how well they were received at Pottiker Apartments and Bayside. The photos were lovely, and I regret not making time to go to their HAP even though it was on a weekday. It made me excited for our Walkathon, but also anxious about carrying out the event smoothly since we're holding the event at Balboa Park. I'm concerned the t-shirts may get delayed, or attendees won't be able to find parking, or find the senior lounge, or that some groups may pull out. Since it is still about 2 weeks away, there is still room for unexpected changes but I know that things will slowly fall into place!
We did a check-in with our draft HAP posters for the Symposium for the rest of the time. For our poster, we tried to make it less text heavy with more visuals and pictures from the event. It was a fairly rough draft since we haven't had our event yet, but we all felt it was a good outline to add on to later. I appreciated how everyone was giving honest constructive feedback on each poster. It was really helpful to see what didn't work on some and what worked on others, depending on the project. I'm excited to see how everything will turn out in the next couple weeks.
