As seniors finishing up their lunch, we started setting up and putting on green decorations for the Senior Prom. Despite sprinkling outside, it did not impede elders from showing up for our event. Staring around 1:45, people began entering the cafeteria. A good number of people participated in the dance. The idea of handing out Oscar award was excellent because it encouraged participation among the crowds. However, there was one lady who was very upset that she did not receive an award. One of the good things was that we had so many prizes for elders. At least half of the participants could get some gifts when leaving. Despite that some people were not lucky enough to get the prizes, they still could take away small gift bags, and they really appreciate the time and effort that we put in to make this excellent event.
This event was really successful because many people were very involved and had the opportunities to interact with each other. Prom King and Queen led the first dance, and everyone else began dancing as well. At the end of the event, as people began leaving, they thanked us for making this wonderful event possible every year, and they loved coming to this event and get to know us. All the elders were very friendly. There was a lady that I met, she was very creative, and she was making a blanket for Jorge’s granddaughter. She told me that she enjoyed making different arts and were very good at it. This event allowed students to get a better understanding of conducting an event and also become more prepared for our own HAP.
