We were back in the classroom! Today we debriefed on our West Center Visit we all got a chance to discuss some of the interesting conversations we had and tell our main takeaways from both the Casa and West Center visits. It was great to hear everyone's feedback about the event. I think a great point that someone brought up was comparing these conversations to the conversations we had at Casa de Manana. I felt that the conversations that we had at the West Center were much more productive and interesting. Personally I felt that the conversations we had at Casa seemed forced, and in that instance it would have been more helpful to have some conversation card/starters. I think the conversations there were at surface level, some topics about vacationing, traveling, and where we were born. These are things that are very interesting but personally I have not had the opportunities in my life to do much traveling. So it made joining in on these conversations a little harder. While at the West Center the people who came to talked to us came of their own volition, it was hard to start the conversation at first but then we all got the hang of it and came up with a lot of questions on the spot. But my main take away from both site visits is that I think that people just want to be heard a have genuine connections. It’s always great to have a good conversation with a person and I think that can be hard to come by now a days.
