Last week our Life Scholars group visited Casa De Mañana retirement community in beautiful La Jolla. The building was absolutely gorgeous as was the view. Casa de Mañana is a renovated hotel with incredible Spanish architecture that both dazzles and delights whomever chooses to enter. Casa is perfectly positioned right in front of the Pacific ocean. The elderly residents are not only able to see and hear the sound of the ocean waves break against the shore every day, but also admire its beauty as they take a stroll along the paved walk ways and ocean bridge. The building itself contained all the amenities one would need such as a fine-dining hall, pool, chapel, outdoor patio, piano lounge, library, movie theater, gym and more! What was even better than the esthetics was the community! Every elder partner who came to join us was filled with life just waiting to share their stories and learn more about our backgrounds. It was a great day, but I can only imagine a handful of seniors will ever experience the quality of care and health that these residents have acquired. I wish each senior were afforded the wonderful opportunity to reside in Casa de Mañana, however I know that won’t be the case.
