Our third class of the Winter Quarter was filled with a lot of information and planning for events to come. We started class with a debrief of our experience at the Mary West Center. It was enjoyable hearing everyone’s experiences, and I look forward to returning there to put on their senior prom. After the debrief we were able to get a glimpse into the process and potential ideas for our Healthy Aging Project we will be developing in the spring quarter. Past alumni of the program shared what they had done for their Healthy Aging Project, and gave us tips and as well as guidance on what to do and not to do when creating our project. We then began to split up tasks for the two group HAP that we will be putting on during the winter quarter. I’m looking forward to seeing how our collaborative efforts come to life when putting on these events for seniors in the community. After answering general questions about the Oral History Project as well as as our presentations for our book groups, we began to discuss the Neighborhood Assessment Project. Through this project we will go into a local neighborhood and assess using the World Health Organization Framework, of how age friendly the community is. I will be assessing La Jolla, and being that I was born and raised in and around this community, I’m eager to see how it ranks in regards to being age friendly. I’m excited about going out into La Jolla with a new perspective, and showing my peers the neighborhood I know and love. I’m looking forward to the many more experiences and site visits for this quarter
