Two quarters went by so quickly. I was surprised that we were already in our last class of the program. We participated in a great variety of projects and activities in the past few months, and everything was very, very fulfilling. There are many experiences, for example the senior dances at Casa de Manana and Gary and Mary West Center, that I will never forget.
We began with potluck for breakfast and watched/listened to the wonderful debunking ageism projects by the scholars. It was an appropriate wrap-up to all that we have learned. From our readings to the out of class interactions with the seniors of the San Diego community, there are numerous aspects that every one of us have realized about the elderly that are not necessarily believed by the common populace. We have expressed many of those facets in the last project of the program.
We reviewed each poster that would be shown in the Healthy Aging Symposium on Wednesday; I think that everyone did a very nice job. They certainly illustrate the great diversity of our work and the numerous communities that we have touched upon. I also think this is a perfect conclusion to the program. We all have worked very hard in all of the assignments but kept the results and experiences mostly in our own classroom. It is now time to show others who are interested about what we have done as a part of the LCS program.
