This week's class was filled to the brim with much to talk and learn about. Although I had a bit of a headache due to the weather, I think that everything we did in class helped me forget about it.
As a class, we discussed about the upcoming HAPs at Casa de Manana and the Gary and Mary West Senior Center. I feel that each of these events has significant meaning and value. As students, we strive to contribute to the "healthy aging" of the elderly population, and in this case, we are planning and organizing something that allows seniors to forget about their troubles at the moment and have a wonderful time, relax, and release their stress. We all sincerely wish that the elderly enjoy what we have prepared and am proud of my fellow classmates for what we have organized so far.
I was touched by the Oral History Projects that were made by my classmates and presented in the presence of Trish, who has taught us about how to make the memoirs. Every single presentation was impressive and an opportunity to learn about a person's life. Every EP is unique and have lived through their share of challenges and successes, but in the end there is a converging point. It seems that each EP values his or her family the most out of anything else in the world, which is beautiful to hear. I am honestly still touched by this project. The conversations that went into making the final product not only led to the creation of the memoirs but also deeper understanding of the EPs and a benefit for the EPs themselves. As I have heard from several students, their EPs were very enthusiastic and joyful about having a memoir created for them. The Oral History Project was a conspicuous success at every angle.
