This trip to Casa was a lot of fun because we got to sit down with the seniors in a very intimate fashion and got to learn about their lives at 20, and just about their lives in general.
At first I sat with a gentleman who frequented our events that was in the Navy and then became and accountant. He was very proud of both careers and was very well travelled and told us to pursue our education since he even became a lecturer at Universities. However, his most beloved stories were ones about his daughters and all of the amazing things that they have done in their lives. One of his daughters was even choses to work under Obama and until she was vetted, went to culinary school and opened a restaurant.
I also sat with another couple that were pilots their entire lives and always flew together. They met in high school and have been together ever since. They flew a lot of celebrities, even astronauts and congressmen and shows us pictures and autographs. The never had kids but they ran a charity were they flew hundreds of kids to their procedures and through that, met president Nixon. They also raised a mountain lion and eventually sent it to a sanctuary but they really loved it and talked about how it instantly knew when the husband would come to the door. They were lovely and they told us how much they loved talking to us and how they wanted to share their stories and how people our age usually don’t seem as interested, which is unfortunate because they had so many cool stories to share that we encouraged them to write a book!
