According to the internet, April 11th is national day for barber shop quartet, cheese fondue, pet day etc. I didn’t celebrate any of them but if I would have I would have celebrated the national ceese fondue because I loveeeeee chese. I think I have an obsession with cheese but the only downside to that is that I am allergic to dairy, I get rashes on my skin but that does not stop me from consuming cheese. The only time I will take a break from it is when my rashes are bad but that hasn’t happened in a while. Anyways enough of my cheese obsession, the second classs of the quarter went great! We discussed a lot of things of which time flies by soo quick in this class.

As usual we began by discussing logistics such as the application for next LCS such as how do we get word out for this program etc. Everything went smooth in discussing this and there were lots of ideas of how to get the word out for LCS. After this we also got into groups to come up with questions that we could ask as a survery for the HAP’s. For example should we have pre and post survery questions or just post. Most questions are based on a scale such as from a 0-10 how likely are you to recommend this event to others, etc. But we also came up with questions of which they have the opportunity to write a few sentences about their experience for instance. I think that my peers came up with really good questions, its simply about choosing which ones to choose since there were so many.

During this class we also got to hear 3 of our LCS discuss readinsg they did from the short stories, I really enjoyed reading all of them. I think the one I had the most trouble understanding was the Alice Walker but thankfully Jacqueline was able to explain that very well and with so much analyzation that I was able to understand it more. Overall, they all did great and thankful that they explained it even more, they were able to take small portions of the stories and analyze them into ways that I don’t think I would have.

The next hour and a half or so left of class we also discussed stereotyped that go against the elderly. The point of this was to introduce us to one of the projects/assignmnets of this quarter which is to create a video/cartoon etc. to go against these stereotypes or myths. I am also very excited for this because I think it would be awesome to do some sort of documentary including elders doing things such as sports etc. that go against what society thinks of them or other forms of communication. The goal is to defy the myths of aging. Once we finished this discussion we had the opportunity to talk to our HAP groups and discuss more details of our event. This week I reached out to different instructors across SD to see if any of them were willing to volunteer for our event of give us a reduced price to facilitate a class at bayside. Only one of them reached out and is willing to meet up with me to discuss the program, I reached back but she hasn’t repied but most likely its because it was a weekend, therefor I will contacting her back tomorrow (Monday) to see what she has to offer (: I will attach a few pictures of her art, she sent me a website to look at the art she has.
